2009 Wrap-up

The Thompson's 2009!

It's hard to believe that 2009 is almost over! I still catch myself writing 2008 on my checks! How on earth will I remember to write 2010?

Anyhow, what a great year we had.
It didn't start off too excited but by March we had Mac's 27th birthday, Logan's 3rd, and our 5th wedding anniversary! It was a busy month.

Life pressed on... synchro continued great, and the heat was here before we knew it.

Lots of exciting things happened this summer. Logan and Molly both took swim lessons with Miss Sarah. Great lessons, and they LOVE the water, almost as much as I do.

I spend a 8 days at the University of Florida with my athletes at the National Age Group Championships. Our entire team did fabulous!

We then spent a week in California with family. Doesn't get much better than that. The beaches were awesome, and for the first time we rented a house, a couple blocks from the beach in Carlsbad. I would NEVER EVER spend a week in Cali another way then a vacation home by the beach!!

Not long after that my team and I received a few awards. My team was the Grand Canyon State Games 2009 Athletes of the Year, (out of 35,000 athletes!!) Not too shabby. And while I was in Chicago at a National Synchronized Swimming Convention I was awarded 2009 Coach of the Year. Pretty exciting stuff!

Also this summer, our own Frenchie-McGee spent 6 weeks with us. Laurie and I met last summer when she spent two weeks with us, and helped me coach my swim team. Now we're great friends, and she came back this summer too! We had a great time, and spent 4 days in Vegas!! (Timeshare on the strip.... what a life!)

This summer also had some sorrow, as we lost our dog... some may say our first child.... McGee. He was a wonderful dog, and had a great life. He spent his last days with my brother, and his best friend Danni, my brother's Yellow Lab. He will always be remembered, and is missed terribly.

Logan started preschool this past fall. It has been fantastic, he loves his teacher, Miss Kara, and spending time with his best friend, Jacob. He's learning lots, and it's giving me special one on one time with Molly Anne.

Beyond that... it's the same 'ole, same 'ole! Trying to stay young while realizing we're pushing 30. Scary times!

2009 is wrapping up with a week in Oregon. NOT SKIING! Mac and I are more like lodge dwellers, fire and hot chocolate.

Can't wait for 2010 and more exciting things happen. Still crossing my fingers for a trip to the Bahamas. I'm trying my hardest... I just need Mac to give a little!!

We're writing our 2010 Resolutions, and although we don't have any yet, we are living by my new favorite bible verse:
"Wherever your treasure is there your heart and thoughts will also be."
Matthew 6:21

Happy Treasure Hunting in 2010.

The Woes of Potty training!

So, I walked down stairs last week, and Logan, with all the excitment in the world, hollered, "Mom I went potty!" At first, a burst of excitment surged through me! Thankful that we started the morning with out an accident.
Then I looked around... where did he go?
"Did you go in the potty?" I questioned.
"No!" Again excitment.
"Where then?"
"Outside, like Buster." Okay, outside like the dog. Makes sense just the week before we had been in Cali and he had to pee by a bush a few times.
I look and the door is still locked. There's no way he could open and relock it.
Then I look at our screen from the window.... flapping in the wind.
Slowly I make my way to the window. And sure enough a great big puddle... freshly dripping down the slide.
He had opened the window, broken the screen, (not a big deal, as it was already on it's last leg), and peed through the window!!

Geezz... you can't make this stuff up!

My Life as a Rock Star, written by Melinda Coats, adapted and edited by Becky Thompson

"I live the life of a rock star. It's true! I have wild hair and make-up with frequent constume changes. I have people dying to get a hold of me to do the latest hair styles and make-up, and some of what they try is "far out!"
Everywhere I go I have an entourage. People are constantly yelling my name, over and over and over again! I look out into the crowd and they're actually crying for me, reaching for me. I know if they were close enough they would even grab my hair, just to get a piece of me!
I have no privacy. I'm watched when I shower, when I'm cooking, even when I use the restroom... for my own protection, I'm sure.
When I go places I must do so quickly, before my fans get out of control and start a riot! Every night a different guy wants to sleep with me! Each of them seems genuinely hurt when I turn them away.
Occasionally I get dirty undergarmets whirled at me, with a whoop and a smile. It's even hard sometimes to walk through my own home without someone spotting me and trying to grab my legs or my clothing.
Oh, and don't forget about the stalkers! You know those crazed fans that follow you everywhere? Why, I can't even talk on the phone in the panrty or my closet without an eye or two peeping in at me.
Yes, it's true -- I live the life of a rock star. "

Summer is ending!

It's already over. I can't believe summer is ending. It has gone way too fast! Logan took swim lessons all summer and it already a strong little swimmer. There will be no way to keep him out of the pool! We always joked I had gills growing up... looks like they're hereditary.
He also took a tumbling class this summer, where he did more sprinting that tumbling. Remember Forest Gump?? Logan runs just like Forest did. If he's not a full time swimmer, he'll be a triathlete, as long as we can get him to ride his bike he got for his birthday. (Still doesn't like it...)

We just wrapped up two weeks of a synchronized swimmer from Canada's national team here at our house. She came and worked with me and my athletes this summer, helping us get a jump start on the season. Two weeks was too short. We miss her already. She became Molly's snuggle buddy!

We're anxiously planning a trip to Canada next summer!

We still have a couple more trips before the temp cools off, one including the beach! (Can't wait).
We're going to visit one of my good friends, Alia. Hopefully we'll get some camping in to.

Molly is growing chubbier and cuter by the minute. Enjoy the new pictures of our sweetheart. She's already standing and walking with little push toys! At nine months! Boy are we in trouble.

Enjoy the updated pics!

Mother's Day

Why do we celebrate Mother's Day?
What is all the hoopla for? Isn't it just another Hallmark holiday?

You're darn right it's a Hallmark holiday! But also a day that I want to be appreciated! Now... after two miserable Mother's Days, I'm not going to take it any more. I'm taking a stand, I'm fighting for women everywhere... what am I doing you ask? I'm writing a book.

That's right, a book. There's no reason that a women with a loving and husband with kids should only get a mere "Happy Mother's Day" from her husband. No card? No chocolates? No breakfast in bed? Heck... I didn't even get a breakfast, or lunch for that matter. AND... I helped make dinner at my parents house. So basically... it was a typical day. The day was fine, except the building anger brewing inside!

I don't have a name for the book, and I'm going to need your help. It's going to be 365 ways to appreciate your wife. Anytime your husband doesn't react to or support you the way you're hoping or hinting toward... let me know! I need 365 situations!

I already have my forward written and it starts like this... "After two crappy Mother's Days, I'm not going to take it anymore!"

So rally up women! It's time to take a stand and demand the appreciation that you've earned all year long!

I love my husband... but if he needs a book to tell him how to appreciate me.... then so be it!

First Blog of our Life

So, here I am... getting sucked into the blogging community!
Not like we have much time for this, but I'm not too wild about the season of 24 that we're trying to get through, so I type while Mac watches.

Summer is approaching, and although life should slow down a bit... that's a huge misconception.
Mac will be enjoying his last free summer for a few years as he's getting ready to go back to school in the fall. (I know he's crazy... feel free to share that point with him.... I have!)

Synchro is also busying up for me to. My 13-15 swimmers have qualified for Nationals and we'll be heading to New York for a week in June to compete in the world's largest synchronized swimming competition.

This weekend is Mother's Day, and I think in addition to a bread machine, my other present is painting the kids bedrooms and ripping down wall paper! Oh boy... what has this world come to? I'm actually looking forward to this... have I lost it or what?

It's suppose to hit 100 degrees next week, so enjoy your last weekend before we can never leave our homes again.
